The news that had been announced a few weeks ago is finally available to Brazilians. Since yesterday, the WhatsApp application for iOS and Android allows you to post photos and videos with emojis, texts and other attractions that are on the air for 24 hours, as well as Snapchat and Instagram Stories.
Next to the conversations, there is a new tab called “status”. It’s where you can see what your friends are up to and post your photos and videos yourself so they can see
“Eight years ago, in February 2009, we started writing the first few lines of code for something that would eventually become WhatsApp. The original idea behind this project was to develop an application where you could tell your friends and other contacts what you were doing at the time. That idea came months before we had the option to send messages, “says WhatsApp creator Jan Koum in the application blog. “We are delighted to announce that, along with WhatsApp’s eight-year anniversary celebrations on February 24, 2017, we’ve reinvented the status feature. Starting today, we will be providing status updates where you can easily and securely share your WhatsApp images and videos with your contacts – yes, even our status updates are encrypted end-to-end.”
